I'm so happy to have surprised my grandma on her 90th birthday down in Florida this past week. This is one of my favorite photos of her that I took on the beach by the house I grew up. Happy 90th birthday Lola Helen!

"Rolid"
Since the last post I have been trying to concentrate on getting my photography portfolio going. As much as I love filmmaking, I also love fashion photography. An old friend of mine, Tao Thoma, asked me to shoot with him and his friend Chris Yu. Tao is an experienced Model/Actor who was showing Chris the modeling ropes. It was nice having Tao on set to set an example on how to pose. I don't really have an idea of how to direct a guy pose (since I am a girl and new at this). Hehe.
We shot the photos around downtown Boca Raton. For lunch, we stopped by this awesome little restaurant called The Cheese Course. I am a firm believer in keeping talent and crew energized with food! My favorite part of the day was having the boys climb this huge banyan tree I found. I also was lucky enough to work with Makeup Artist, Jaclyn Carmela! You guys should check her out; she is also a pretty rad model! Good times!
Fun Fact: The night before the shoot I had some chinese takeout with my grandma. We each had a fortune cookie after our yummy dinner. My fortune happened to say "Every artist was once an amateur." I don't know about you, but that kinda freaked me out!
Swimwear by Jessica
As you all may know I have recently moved to the DC area. Before I left I shot an ad campaign for one of Florida's hottest swimwear lines, Ola Feroz! Ola Feroz swimwear is handmade in the US by Jessica Garcia. She creates all different styles and has fabrics that can be mixed and matched! Best part is its affordable! Ladies, you will love this brand! Fellas, you will love it too ;)

Behind the Scenes photos:
Ru De Muse
The other day I got a call from the studio manager Lesilie Cordosa at Montana Pritchards Photography Studio. She asked me if I could come in the next day to help create the set for a photo shoot. Luckily my schedule was free, I gladly said yes. The name of the shoot - Rue de Muse. Ru De Muse is an upcoming, high-end online boutique, started by Montana Pritchard and Sloane Sapan. Montana is a local photographer here in South Florida, while Sloane is a stylist. The plan was to have two beautiful models wearing lingerie in a boudoir setting. Montana had some tears and I assembled the mood board. The mood was sensual, soft, and edgy and all the focus was on the models. Montana and I shopped all around West Palm Beach FL. We found some great dark blue satin fabric with a simple flower pattern at a fabric shop. Next stop, The Home Depot! Montana and I wanted to create thee flats for one large wall. We also got some baseboard and trim for a footboard. Montana found some great Victorian stencil to accent the walls with. The set design was to be very dark. Quite naturally the focus point is the model, so we had to be carful not to put anything into the frame that would take away form her. As much as I pushed for a chandelier, there just wasn't room. The set took about 10 hours to assemble from thought to finish.
The next morning everyone arrived. Montana’s assistant Lauren brought out lights, and I spent the rest of the morning vacuuming and tweaking the set. Picture frames went up and down, while furniture was moved around. The makeup artist Sandy Maranesi, and the hair stylist Amanda Parisi did a beautiful job on the models. Courtney Bingham and Choice Gray are the talented and gorgeous models represented by ELITE MIAMI.
Seeing the end product is the best part. To pull of a shoot like this takes a lot of work and talented people. I know that I couldn't do it alone. The artists I worked with made the project more exciting. When you are around creative people, you yourself get more creative. In my field of work I know I will always work in a group. I don't mind it one bit. I feel blessed to be a part of any film or photo project. I love it, I always have and always will.
Sorry, no video! But you get to see pics provided by Montana!
