The Shore Life Premier Issue

Update: As some of you may know by now I recently moved to the DC area to further pursue fashion photography about a month ago. I also graduated with my Masters in Entertainment Business on October 1st! Yay me!

Back in July I came across Krisztina, a gorgeous model I found on Model Mayhem. I commented on her website that I loved her portfolio and hoped to work with her one day and 3 months later...Voila! I shot with Krisztina of T.H.E Artist Agency and amazing Hair and Make up by Victoria Stiles of T.H.E Artist Agency. Fab styling by C Scott Design ! We shot at Leiper Stiles Studios in Virginia. Just goes to show you can create anything if you put your mind to it. I got to shoot with a model I wanted to and had a great time with Krisztina on set.

Tuesday Night Lights!

The other day a friend of mine, and model,

Joella Anastasi

asked me to come out to a photo shoot. Joella introduced me to photographers

Courtney Ortiz

and Shannon Mathis. Courtney is a professional family portrait photographer and Shannon is a professional wedding photographer. Both girls are very sweet and talented. Joella and I drove to Hollywood, FL Tuesday night where I met the photographers and their beautiful models Kendal, Alex and Natasha. The girls modeled in a backyard studio. Everyone was excited for the fashion shoot. It was something fun, laid back and different from what everyone was used to. I had fun meeting local talent, and made some great friends in the process. It also gave me a great opportunity to shoot a little behind the scenes video. Here is the full-length version for your entertainment! Music in the video- Britney of course!

"Buried Alive" Music Video!

A good friend of mine from Film School,

Nick Ruff,

called me up one day and asked if I could Assistant Direct a music video with him. I said sure! Nick is a very talented Filmmaker, so I knew whatever he was working on would look amazing. The music video was for Diego Heat, a local rapper in the Orlando, Florida area. I was excited; it has been a while since I have dabbled in Assistant Directing (AD-ing). Most people have this misconception about AD-ing. They assume that you are helping the Director to creatively direct each scene. In fact it’s not at all like that.

The duties of an AD include: setting the shooting schedule, tracking daily progress against the filming production schedule, arranging logistics, preparing daily call sheets, checking the arrival of cast and crew, maintaining order on the set, rehearsing cast, and directing extras. Pretty much paperwork and bossing people around :P

The day before the shoot I met up with Nick and Diego to discuss the days ahead. I was going into the meeting blind, but we got most of the preplanning done that day.

Check out my Behind the Scenes Video I splashed together… Oh ya, we were in the exact studio BSB recorded at! WHAT!!! lol

So you see, as an AD, you are constantly producing and keeping everyone on track and on time. I have learned that nothing ever goes as planed. Two minutes into a shoot, my shooting schedule already has scribbles, arrows and notes all over it. The "Buried Alive" shoot was a 2 day, 12 hours a day shoot. We had five sweet locations all over Orlando and 8 people for talent, including me. I ended up being the “secretary” last minute. I am no actor, but I think I did a pretty good job! Lol. The show must go on!

Now for the crew! Nick Ruff was the Director and Editor for the video; he also filmed on a Panasonic HVX. The 1 st day of the shoot I got to meet our other two camera guys,

Travis Blackwell and

Michael Dalton

I had a great time meeting with other artists during the 3 days in Orlando. Check out the Music Video!

. Travis also had an HVX and Michel used a Cannon 7d. Having 3 cameras helped the filming possess go by faster in some ways.

PGA All Day!

Here are the videos I made about the awesome PGA Catalog Shoot. I had the privilege to assist on the shoot and meet Justin, the Art Director and Kristen, the Project Manager. The shoot took place at Montana Pritchard’s Studio in West Palm Beach FL. The studio was crowded with boxes that were shipped from all over the country. They were full of shirts, sweaters, jackets and hats. There were also all different kinds of items like cups, umbrellas and golf gear! Montana’s photos came out perfect as always! Here is the link to the PGA CATALOG!

This first video demonstrates the many uses of gaff tape!

This next video shows the importance of pre planning and how a plastic jug can come in handy!

Exposed

As a new Art Director to the industry, it was a exciting experience working with Montana Pritchard. We came up with the concept of “The Exposure of Virtue” in Montana’s studio after a long day of work. We knew we wanted something soft and beautiful, and luckily we had three beautiful girls respond to our casting call. Mellissa, Danielle and Cheyenne all possessed the mood of the vision we wanted to portray.

I wanted to put together an interesting set that wouldn’t take away from their natural beauty. Themes for the set: Texture and white. Options: fake snow and comforter stuffing. The winner? 4 rolls of comforter stuffing! Dressing the set took a few hours; we weren’t getting the right vibe from the three walls of texture, so we settled on using the corner of two walls for the background. Meanwhile our models were in hair and makeup.

Kristin Brown did a fabulous job with hair and makeup on Cheyenne and Melissa. The makeup was soft, with a splash of pink. Cheyenne’s hair was in a tousled bun, Melissa had a ballerina bun and Danielle had loose ringlets. All three girls were powdered down with baby powder from head to toe. I also took behind the scenes video for your enjoyment! Montana’s assistant, Lauren took great behind the scenes pictures. The day was amazing, with creative individuals.

Reef Roadin' it

Back in October, I met one of the best photographers ever, Montana Pritchard. Montana hired me as a photographer's assistant. My first mission: Reef Road! Reef Road is a restaurant in downtown West Palm Beach. Our job was to first shoot the interior. The restaurant has these awesome light fixtures made out of actual blow fish! When we shot Reef Road's food and drinks, it was so hard to resist. After the shoot we had lunch there and let me tell you, it was out-of-this-world good!! I learned a lot and had fun, and even got a bite out of it!
